Save on PayPal Fees with Mass Pay

Written by exlo Deal Hunter on May 21, 2008 – 12:10 am -

This method will allow Premier and Business members to receive payments without fees; when they otherwise would.

If you are a frequent PayPal user, a Premier or Business account is a must. However, when you upgrade to such; you are subject to a new set of fees.

PayPal Fees

When selling a high value item, these fees can be tremendous and seriously affect your bottom line. Take, for example, a Canon 1ds Mark III camera. At a price of $7000, your fees are going to be more then $200.

While it is only a small percentage of the total amount, its nothing to bat an eyelash at.

What is the solution? Many sellers have resorted to requiring an e-check as payment, which is slow, inconvenient and restricts the buyer from paying out of balance. Quite an inconvenience, but very much worth the $200 it saves.

However, there is an easier way! Mass Pay to the rescue. Straight from the horses mouth,

Mass Payment allows anyone with a Premier or Business account to send multiple payments instantly—saving time, money and the hassle of having to individually send funds to every payment recipient.”

Sounds great, but why does this help us? Simple. You don’t have to be sending to multiple recipients, and when using Mass Pay, you pay a flat $1 fee no matter how much you are sending. The recipient of the funds gets charged no fee, even if they have an account normally subject to 2.9% or otherwise.

Here are the simple steps:

Step 1: Open your favorite text editor to a blank document.

Step 2: Type the following; using the “Tab” key to create tabs where it would appear there are spaces.

seller@isp.com 1000 USD

Customize as necessary, with the numeric value being the amount sent. If you want to send $500, you put “500″ before the USD designation. The email address is the email of the recipient of the payment.

In PayPal, there will be a small link at the bottom of the page.

PayPal Masspay

Click on the link, and then click “Make a Mass Payment” on the side bar. Alternatively, use this direct link. Upload the text file you’ve created; and fire away! You’ve just saved a ton on your PayPal fees by switching to Mass Pay.
